We had a meeting for annual report of university-school collaboration coordinated by Faculty of Education, Wakayama University and Boards of Education of Wakayama Prefecture and other areas, held at Faculty of Education, Wakayama University. I presented my work about new web sites for science education discussion and the robotic telescope which is a new function of the 60cm telescope.

I attended Japan-Korea academic seminar held at Osaka Kyoiku University, Tennoji Campus, Osaka City. I discussed with Dr. Masatoshi Fujii, mathematics education professor of Osaka Kyoiku University, Japan, and Dr. Dong-hyun Char, science education professor of Jeonju National University of Education, Korea. I was invited this seminar by professor Kwang-Woong Bae, profossor of Osaka Kyoiku University.

Ms. Reiko Hori, a member of the board, global strategic planning, Anterio Inc., gave us a wonderful talk about her dynamic career and appealed young students.

The renewal work of the 60cm telescope of the astronmoical observatory atop the building of Faculty of Education, Wakayama Univeristy was made; the telescope is now computer-controled and has the remote control fuction. The renewal work was made by a group of companies; NTT facilities, Chuo Opt, Eye Bell, Skygrove, and Geshiro-Gumi Machinery Manufacturing.

The Wakayama area preliminary heat of Earth Science Olympiad (hosted by Japan Earth Science Olympiad Committee) was held at Wakayama City satellaite office of Wakayama University. I am in charge of Wakayama area coordinator of Earth Science Olympiad.

Ms. Khanittha Matsuo, a website producer of Y2K Media Corp, Co. Ltd., gave us a wonderful talk about her dynamic career and appealed young students.

I attended the 50th anniversary ceremony of Matsushita Hall (Lifelong Learning Center, Wakayama University, and Wakayama Study Center, the Open University of Japan), Wakayama University, held at Matsuchita Hall.

About 60 people of pupils, parents, and teachers of Attached Elementary School, Faculty of Education, Wakayama University, and Kada Elementary School, Wakayama City, came to the astronomical observatory of Faculty of Education, Wakayama University, and enjoyed seeing the big instruments, though it was rainy outside.

The special class for Kainan Senior High School, Wakayama Prefecture, was held at Wakayama University. Ota Sho-kun, an M-2 student of my astronomy seminar, was developing a new teaching material, `Investigate the characteristics of an exo-planet from the transit data,' and high school students tried the work sheet.

Ms. Fusae Kojima, a secetary general and a trustee of the Society of preservation of Kyo-machiya (traditional houses in Kyoto City), gave us a wonderful talk about her dynamic career and appealed young students.

Wakayama Shin-ai Women's Junior College attached senior high school women students visited Wakayama Univeristy, and I gave abouot 50 of them a special lecture.


Diverse career support lecture series, 3rd lecture was held by Wakayama University Gender Equility Office and Institution of Education and Student Support. Ms. Yoko Sakaguchi, the Kansai International Airport station operations manager of United Airlines, gave us a wonderful talk about her dynamic career and appealed young students. She also gave students useful knacks to enter airline world.


I attended just for a while the reception dinner party for new students of Wakayama University from abroad coming this October, held at Wakayama University co-op restaurant, by Center for International Education and Research, Wakayama University.

I attended Wakayama Prefectural schools' vice-principal meeting and presented the plan of the Wakayama area preliminary heat of Earth Science Olympiad (hosted by Japan Earth Science Olympiad Committee).

Korea university students Japan visiting party, guided by Prof. Dr. Rae-Chol Cho of Sunchon National University, visited Wakayama University. Center for International Education and Research, Wakayama University, had a welcome party, and I attended the party and lunch-time discussion session.

Ms. Kuniko Chokyoji, the president of `sake' (Japanese rice wine) brewer, Mukai Shuzo, Inc. gave us a wonderful talk about her dynamic career and appealed young students.

I visited NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) Wakayama Branch, and check the preparation of the event which would be held after the day, air-dome planetarium presented by students of my astronomy seminar.

Astronomical Observatory of Faculty of Education, Wakayama University welcomed 29 pupils of Attached Elementary School, Faculty of Education, Wakayama University. It was around 2 pm, so pupils enjoyed looking at 60 cm mirror of the reflector.

NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) staff visited my office at Wakayama University to make arrangements about the public event which would be held on 30 October at NHK Wakayama Station; the air-dome planetarium NEX will be played at the event.

The visit was for arrangement for my class of the Open University of Japan, Wakayama Study Center which will be held at Kawabe Cosmic Park.

I and three of my graduate students (Ota Sho-kun, Sakaihara Shutaro-kun, Miyasaki Keiji-kun) stayed at Kiso Observatory, Institute of Astronomy, University of Tokyo, Nagano Prefecture, for student's observation practice. We observed with Dr. Tomohiko Yamagata and his students of Bunkyo University and Dr. Nobunari Itoh and his students of Mie University. Dr. Itoh prepared the observation subjects and Dr. Yamagata prepared the excursion after the observations.

Nagahama Hijiri-san of Mook Science Office kindly invited my to his science cafe, held at Hommachi Hiroya, Osaka City. I started my talk entitled "Feel the universe just in the center of Osaka City," but my talk went from Hayabusa mission to astronomy-astrology relation and astronomy-religion relation, answering questions by about 10 participants, male and female, from 20's to 50's (I guess).

Fourteen students and three teachers of Kishiwada Senior High School, Osaka Prefecture, visited my office at Wakayama University, as a part of their summer trip to universities. I talked about topics on astronomy and answered to their questions.

I joined a science cafe, RiCafe, at a cafe, Cafe FLEUR, near Shinsaibashi station, Osaka City. The speaker was Mr. Shin-ya Narusawa of Nishi-Harima Astronomical Observatory, Hyogo Prefecture, and theme was `Frontier of SETI -- from a site of on-going project of SETI.'

"Astronomy at Temple", a discussion at a temple about our view of universe and life, with astonomers, Buddhist priests, and many other peple, the 6th meeting was held at Yakushi-In, Kishiwada City, Osaka Prefecture. I talked about how to feel the hierarchical structure of the universe, not by using special devices such as big telescopes and computers, but by just looking up the sky and seeing the stars and thinking. The priests explains their views of the universe and life, and we all have discussed for hours.

The star-watching party in Shitennoji-temple, Osaka City, was held. I worked as a guide, together with astronomy club member of 29th graduates from Kozu Senior High School, Osaka.

Though we can not see the Milky Way, even from the center of Osaka City, we can pick out down to 3rd-magnitude stars and trace some constellations.

I showed my face at Wakayama University's new staff training meeting, held at Kaifukan, Misaki Town, Osaka Prefecture. One of my new master students, Sakaihara Shutaro-san, talked about his experience of the big earthquake. He was a junior high school teacher where many peple suffering from the earthquake have stayed.
