授業の概要・ねらい
/Course Aims
In this course students will work on the area studies, focusing on the Central Asia, which is located in the
center of Eurasian continent. These years Wakayama University concludes Student Exchange Agreements with more universities in Central Asia, because the region is rich in natural as well as human resources,
and is regarded as the very important area for not only Japanese, but also for international economy and
society. Therefore, it is worth for us to be familiar with unique features of such countries as Kazakhstan,
Kirgis, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Both international and Japanese students at Wakayama University will outlook various aspects of the
region; people's life, history, geography, culture, economy and languages spoken in CA. They also will be
acquainted with the global issues there, including environmental issues.
By connecting online, they will interact with the students in Central Asia. Students at Wakayama University as well as students in Central Asia will show and tell each other, compare with each other, and thus the
both students can understand each other better.  In such a collaborative way both sides can cocreate the
better international relation.
The course will be instructed by Jiro Iida, who has the working experiences in Central Asia, as a staff of
JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

履修上の注意 ・メッセージ
/Notice for Students
Both international and Japanese students who are interested in the life of the people in different countries,
like Central Asia, are welcomed.
The course will be conducted in English (group discussion, group presentation, and assignments).
The most important thing is a positive attitude to communicate with students of diverse backgrounds, rather than English proficiency.
As students learn the basic issues gradually, both international and Japanese students feel easy in working with the issues. Students sometimes can use Japanese language, if it helps communication.
Since there are many group activities, students are expected to actively participate in class works.
Students are required to submit their group activity sheet via Padlet (online post board).
