/Course Aims
This class is about communicating in English and will focus on speaking and listening to others in an effective manner.
到達目標
/Course Objectives
Together we will work on developing the skills that are necessary for a TOEIC score of 450+.
成績評価の方法・基準
/Grading Policies/Criteria
Homework assignments along with in-class written quizzes (60%),  a speaking test (20%) and a final exam (20%) will make up the total grade.

No textbook will be assigned for this course. However printed material will be provided as needed.

Each student will personally maintain their own class notebook.

/Notice for Students
The idea behind this class is to provide you with a situation where you can feel comfortable practicing English. For our classes, a good way to do this is for you to work together in pairs and in groups of perhaps three or four students.

Students are expected to have a Japanese-English/English-Japanese dictionary, a file folder, a ruled notebook and a pen in every class.

Students can reach out to me by email for any questions, comments or criticisms. Time permitting, I'm always willing to be of assistance. Homework will always be explained in class or in emailed pdf assignments.

Please remember that if you do not write a quiz or complete an assignment; then you will be given a score of zero for that week's work. Therefore, please contact me for replacement assignments as soon as possible.
授業理解を深める方法
/How to deepen your understanding of classes
Class participation is expected from all students. Pair and group work will be mixed with class presentations and regular interactions with the instructor. Opportunities for both leadership and teamwork building will be a constant throughout the term. Videos and songs used in class will be available on YouTube for review.
