授業の概要・ねらい ／Course Aims	This course focuses on developing students’ confidence and ability to speak English in public and interactive settings. Through guided practice, students will improve their pronunciation, fluency, and ability to express ideas clearly when speaking to others. Class activities include short presentations, group discussions, interviews, and reflection tasks based on tourism, culture, and everyday communication in Japan and other countries. Students will practice explaining ideas, sharing opinions, and responding to questions in English in a supportive environment. By the end of the course, students will be better prepared to use English for presentations, conversations with international visitors, and communication in academic or professional situations.
到達目標 ／Course Objectives	Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Speak in English clearly and confidently in front of others by using appropriate voice volume, eye contact, gestures, and body language according to the situation. 2. Prepare and deliver short presentations in English with a clear purpose, simple structure, and effective use of visual aids, responding appropriately to basic questions from the audience. 3. Explain cultural topics related to tourism and everyday life in English using examples, comparisons, and personal viewpoints that are understandable to listeners with different backgrounds. 4. Participate actively in discussions and group speaking activities in English, including pair work, small-group discussions, and panel-style conversations, by expressing opinions and responding to others. 5. Reflect on their own speaking performance and learning process, identify areas for improvement, and apply feedback and strategies to improve future English communication.

履修を推奨する関連科目 ／Related Courses	Language Level: This course is designed for students with TOEIC scores of approximately 400-600 (CEFR A2-B1). Materials and activities will be scaffolded appropriately, with vocabulary support, sentence frames, and visual aids provided throughout.
授業時間外学修（予習・復習等）の内容 ／students learning outside of the class, preparation and review are included	Out-of-Class Study: Watching effective examples of presentations and communication techniques online outside of class is recommended to develop understanding of good practice in public speaking. Practice of spoken and nonverbal communication is necessary. Taking notes during class, then reflecting on class activities, topics, and techniques is highly recommend. Writing out such reflections may be useful to deepen one’s understanding of the topic. Using a video recorder to record presentation practice and watch to find areas of improvement can be very helpful. Asking others to watch you practice and give feedback may also be helpful. All students will develop learning plans focused on quality time outside of class for language input and output. Further details will be given in class.
その他連絡事項 ／Other messages	Topic Selection: While the instructor will provide analytical frameworks using examples from music in heritage tourism research, students are strongly encouraged to choose research topics that align with their own interests and future research directions. Topics may include any aspect of cultural heritage, intercultural exchange, or tourism that involves consideration of cultural values and representation. Feedback: If you are unhappy with any aspect of the course or feel that improvements could be made, please use the feedback mechanisms available through the university's course evaluation system, or speak with the instructor directly.
