Cultural and lifestyle differences are currently important sources of tourist attractions. This topic examines how these differences are utilized in tourism, exploring three key themes: slums, urban ethnic districts, and gay quarters. It also discusses the ethical issues surrounding the consumption of ethnic and minority cultures through tourism. | ||||

By the end of the course, students are required to examine: (1) the characteristics of the commodification of ethnic and minority cultures and lifestyles in the context of tourism; (2) the roles of governments and policymakers in the development of ethnic and minority tourism; and (3) the ethical issues surrounding the consumption of ethnic and minority cultures and lifestyles as tourist attractions. | ||||
