授業の概要・ねらい
/Course Aims
This graduate school course is designed as a practicum that is ideally taken as a part of the two-course set with
Social Research Methodology for Tourism Studies. it is designed to allow students to engage in either simulated or actual field research experience. As such, students will be able to:
(1) Develop practical skills in using the social science methods toolkit
(2) Develop analytical and reflexive skills
(3) Get a chance to engage in some preliminary writing or field research reports

/Course Objectives
Upon completing this course students will be able to
(1)Gain practical insight on the research process
(2) Be able to simulate data collection processes
(3) Fine-tune their research designs
(4) Gain experience in reporting/writing up of results

/Notice for Students
Students need to be proactive in designing their projects. They should be able to devote time in planning and executing the projects properly, so some planning in advance will be required. Students are expected to have completed Social Research Methodology for Tourism Studies; this will be a major advantage for this course.

Try to design a field research project in a proactive manner (this can be a simulation). You should have a good understanding of the methodological issues covered in the  Social Research Methodology for Tourism Studies course.

/How to deepen your understanding of classes
Devote time for reading, watching multimedia materials for project planning and implementation, try to plan in stages and try to be self-critical during the planning, execution, and reporting process.

Basically I am available 1 pm -5 pm on workdays excepting class or research trips. Particularly the following timings are advised for consultation.
