This graduate school course is designed to train students in social science methods relevant to tourism. It will cover core areas of graduate school research such as Research Design, selection of appropriate Research Questions and/or Hypotheses, Data collection and analysis methods, and Writing (presentation) of output with logical coherence. | ||||

Upon completing this course students will be able to (1)Gain critical insight on the research process (2) Familiarize themselves with Research design (3) Identify knowledge gaps and formulate research problems accordingly (4) Familiarize themselves with types of logical claims (Deductive/Inductive/Dialectical) (5) Develop skills on prominent social science research methods : Surveys; Interviews/Participant Observation; Case Study; Ethnography; Grounded Theory |

Try to be critical and reflective in your understanding. Students must read all reading assignments, be present in classes regularly, carry out the instructed tasks, and communicate effectively during the course. In addition, as this is a graduate school course students are required to undertake additional readings to develop their knowledge. | ||||
