授業の概要・ねらい
/Course Aims
This is an undergraduate course on Nature-based tourism/Ecotourism where students will learn fundamental aspects as well as gain some familiarity with issues/challenges/potential of nature-based tourism/ecotourism destinations. We will learn through several videos (documentaries) that show us real world situations.
到達目標
/Course Objectives
By taking this course students will be able to
a. Gain fundamental knowledge of the principles and characteristics of nature based tourism/ecotourism
b. Gain knowledge of the various challenges and issues faced by NBT/ecotourism destinations.
c. Familiarize themselves with such destinations and their characteristics.
d. Analyze issues related to sustainability of such destinations.
In addition they will be able to
a. Master fundamental concepts and requirements for nature based tourism/ecotourism
b. Develop knowledge and analytical skills related to the condition of the natural environment at destinations.
c. Analyze sustainability issues related to NBT/ecotourism.
成績評価の方法・基準
/Grading Policies/Criteria
Class participation (activity): 10%, Multiple choice type quiz: 30%, Presentations 30%, Report 30%

Students must attend classes regularly, partake in class discussions and question-answers.
Students should also study the textbook, handouts distributed in class, prepare for the mid term quiz, and presentations/reports.

/Prerequisite
None in particular but interest in tourism in natural areas, or the natural environment, will be an advantage.

/Instructions for studying outside class hours
Look up the internet or library resources in your free time to further understanding about nature based tourism/ecotourism.
It will be a fun course as you will watch several documentaries and get chances to familiarize yourself with real world situations, but you also need to study course materials carefully.

Although it is not a prerequisite It will be helpful to bring your own PC or Ipad in the class.
