授業の概要・ねらい /Course Aims |
This course aims to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of tourism as an industry and a field of study. In particular, this course is one of the foundation courses for first-year tourism major students who are considering joining the Global Program. Topics include the historical development of tourism, current trends in the global tourism industry, the role of tourism in our society, and various approaches to studying tourism. Other related industries and fields of study, particularly hospitality and events, will also be introduced, along with the interrelationships between these industries. |

For successful completion of this course, students must complete the activities listed below. Weights indicate the contribution of each activity to the final grade. Details of each activity will be provided in class. 1. In-class activities: 20% 2. Weekly reflective report: 30% 3. Final exam: 50% |

Note: Students are eligible to purchase an e-book version of the textbook at a discounted rate from the publisher’s website. The faculty’s support office will assist students in this regard. The faculty's support office will inform students how to buy the textbook via "Campus Square". |

・This course is a Global Program course; as such, ALL teaching will be conducted in English. ・There will be many small group tasks during the lectures; therefore, all students are expected to attend each lecture and actively participate. ・Students may access course materials (lecture slides and readings) through the online system (Microsoft Teams). ・The arrangement of the class topics may be revised to adapt to students' learning progress and the availability of guest speakers. |
