授業の概要・ねらい /Course Aims |
This course introduces a range of concepts and theories widely discussed in the tourism field in order to understand the behaviors of tourists. It will also present a variety of studies from around the world and consider some of the key factors influencing tourist behavior. The topic of "service design" will be a key theoretical concept uused to understand and better support tourists in their tourist experiences. As a major assessment project, students will be asked to identify one type of tourist in the current global tourism market and develop a marketing and management plan for the chosen segment using key concepts and theories covered in the course. |

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. Explain the key concepts and theories related to tourist behavior 2. Apply key concepts and theories to develop a destination’s marketing and management plan 3. Develop a logical and coherent academic report in English |

For successful completion of this course, students must complete the activities listed below. Weights indicate the contribution of each activity to the final grade. Details of each activity will be provided in class. 1. In-class activities (group discussion and short writing activities): 35% 2. Online discussion activities: 20% 3. Individual report: 45% |

・This is a GP 2.0 course subject (GP指定科目); as such, all teaching will be conducted in English. ・Students who completed all Principles of Tourism subjects (A, B, C and D) are recommended to take this subject. ・There will be many small group tasks during the lectures; therefore, all students are expected to attend each lecture and actively participate. ・Students are also required to participate in online discussion activities; online activities will be conducted in the course’s Microsoft Teams. ・Students may access course materials (lecture slides and readings) through the online system (Moodle and Microsoft Teams). ・The arrangement of the class topics may be revised to adapt to students' learning progress and the availability of guest speakers. |
