授業の概要・ねらい
/Course Aims
In this course, we explore film tourism by examining how cinema shapes the image, identity, and attractiveness of places. Building on perspectives from Local and Rural Tourism, we will discuss how films—especially documentaries—have the power to represent local communities beyond literal words and conventional tourism narratives. The course traces the history of Japanese cinema, with particular attention to documentary filmmaking and its relationship to regional society and culture. Through the analysis of selected local films and documentaries, students will examine how cinematic works embody social, cultural, and historical contexts, and how they influence tourism practices and place branding.By the end of the course, students will develop a critical understanding of how film functions not only as cultural expression but also as a strategic tool in tourism development.
