授業の概要・ねらい
/Course Aims
This topic will explore how urban tourism can be studied from economic, cultural and political perspectives. The lectures consist of two parts. The first part provides an overview of urban tourism, and the second part looks at two thematic areas central to contemporary urban tourism. The first theme of the second part is developing tourism for urban revitalization. We will examine how the city changed its spaces from the site of production into the site of consumption in the post-industrial time. The second theme is landscapes. We will look into the creation of visual images of cities and ways of using them as tourist attractions.
