授業の概要・ねらい
/Course Aims
Understanding the unique features of the Japanese economy and financial system is important given the fast-changing demographic and social conditions, as well as recent technological advances. The Japanese model of economic growth and development constitutes a good reference for developing economies. The Japanese asset bubble and its burst have shed light on the difficult interrelations between banking, asset valuation, investment expenditure, corporate finance and monetary policy. The challenges posed by financial crises in terms of the coordination of social, economic and monetary policies provide some valuable lessons for developed economies as well. Some theoretical perspectives are discussed based on relevant information from economic and monetary institutions and financial time series from Refinitiv Datastream. The analysis can be useful in understanding the dynamics of the Japanese economy and global finance. Given the implications of economic uncertainty and financial instability for global business management, this course serves also the purposes of multidisciplinary educational programs such as Global Business and Economy, inter alia.
